"From the opening chords, 'King Stag' is lovely in a large kind of way." - Serena Howe, Hillsdale Collegian

All five performances of the King Stag last March turned out to be enthusiastically received by the audience, making for one incredible experience. It was the most popular show on Hillsdale College's campus since 1999 in terms of attendance numbers. Hearing the heartfelt compliments of those who saw the play afterwards made the whole experience one of the greatest accomplishments of our life.

The music for Hillsdale College's production of The King Stag originated as brief themes we wrote on our living-room piano over winter break, matching them to our interpretation of the characters as presented in the script. We later expanded these themes into a piano quintet during the first couple of weeks of school, composing between classes and late into the night. The music is designed to evict emotional interest in the characters through the use of multiple key signatures, various string techniques, and dynamic extremes. We want to extend a huge ovation to our incredibly talented musical friends as we greatly appreciate the dedication they put into our music, breathing life into our compositions.

A week later, we were interviewed by the college newspaper on our composing process in a fun article that can be read online: http://www.hillsdalecollegian.com/sibling-duo-shares-music-telepathic-connection-1.2102181
